V
Of course I had assumed that you’d be mad and
Think retaliation was the cure for
All of this hypocrisy
You don’t believe in anymore. Guess
This is one of those catastrophes where
Temporary allies will divide, ‘till
All the room around us clears, and
Only we stand by your side. And

C
You say that
Things have made a spiral, now they’ve ended in this sorry plight, but
I say you
Must have lost your mind if you believe that we’d give up the fight.

V
We rush you from the scene of this defeat and
Hope your wounds aren’t warranting this pace un-
-til your fleeting sparks of life be-
-come the targets of our chase. Pure
Will can hardly do a thing to heal. It
Only serves to comfort and defend, but
When you’ve got the will to look, it
Isn’t hard to find a friend. And

C
She’ll say that
You are fading quickly, going, going, almost out of sight but
I’ll say, “You
Must have lost your mind if you believe that he’d give up the fight.”

I
And ours is the simple question of
The love of a family of
The broken and faded. It’s not much,
But to me, it’ll always be e-
-nough.

V
The way my stomach tumbled when you fell, it
Starts to fall again now as you rise. And
Desperately, I’m searching for some-
-thing familiar in your eyes, and

C
We say that
After all you’ve been through, we don’t know if you will be all right, but
You say we
Must have lost our minds if we believe that you’d leave us behind or
You’d ever give up the fight.
You’ll never give up the fight.
You’ll never give up the fight.

Zomg it's finally done. The day before the deadline (typical me, honestly). Anyway, this is for :iconsioute:'s contest about her fantastic Freedom Fighter comic, "Plight of the Freedom Fighters" [link] You (yes, you) absolutely must go read it. Right now.

Anyway, a bit about the song itself: It basically follows the story of PFF (as seen through Bee's eyes), focusing mainly on Jet's injury and recovery. If you're having trouble following the connection between the song and the comic, I really, really do suggest clicking the link to the recording and slideshow, as the slideshow might help you figure out what's going on (it helped Jade, anyway).

As for the recording part...man, do we have any other music recorders in the house? The process can be a nightmare, I tell you. Between the MIDI box malfunctioning and the keyboard dying and the firewire connections doing funny things and the program lagging (at least the mic was well-behaved, which is something), this round was certainly filled with some moments when I wanted to whack one piece of machinery or another with a hammer until its little wiry guts spilled out all over the table.

But no, it was really only a couple days of intense recording, then a couple more days of touch-ups (which is, overall, reasonable for a mostly-MIDI song like this). In spite of the pain and trauma of those few days, I'm actually glad this contest got me to do some recording again. It had been a while since I did much songwriting or recording, so it was kind of fun to get back into the groove of it all. I still have some work to do before my guitar skills are acceptable again, though (which is why I recorded a MIDI version of this one instead of the original acoustic version ^^;).

Huh, that was a long and rambly description. Well, enough of that. Again (in case you forgot), you must go read Sio's "PFF" ([link]). The basic premise of this song belongs to her. Oh, and for verification, I am :iconlookingglassrose:. This is my gonnabe Avatar fan account, and since this was Avatar-related (and this gallery was all empty) I decided to put it up here. :)

"And the wind
And the wind I know it's cold
I've been waiting
For the day I will surely die
And it's here
And it's here for I've been told
That I'll die before I'm old
And the wind I know it's cold..."
